Root Canal Treatment in London

Save a badly infected tooth and settle the pain — without losing it.

Throbbing toothache, swelling or pain when you bite usually means the nerve inside the tooth is infected. Root canal treatment cleans the inside of the tooth so you can keep it. Get in touch and we will arrange an assessment.

Why might I need root canal treatment?

The pulp at the centre of a tooth contains nerves and blood vessels. When deep decay, repeated dental work or trauma allows bacteria to reach the pulp, the resulting infection can be extremely painful and, left untreated, can cause an abscess.

Common signs you might need root canal treatment include:

  • Severe, throbbing toothache — especially at night
  • Sensitivity to hot and cold that lingers
  • Pain when biting down
  • Swelling around the tooth or gum
  • A darkening of the tooth

What happens during treatment

We numb the tooth fully with local anaesthetic and isolate it with a rubber dam to keep the area clean and dry. Using fine instruments, we remove the infected pulp, gently shape and disinfect the root canals, then fill them with a biocompatible material called gutta-percha. The tooth is sealed and, in most cases, restored with a crown to protect it long-term.

Aftercare and outcomes

Most patients walk out feeling significantly better than they came in. There may be some mild tenderness for a few days, easily controlled with simple painkillers. With proper restoration and good oral hygiene, a root-treated tooth can last a lifetime.
